Plott Hound

This gorgeous dog is an American Plott Hound, a breed which, until he was commissioned, was completely unknown to me. This lovely boy was named Higgins and his portrait was done to show him young and sleek, and then, in his older years, slightly shadowed in the background.

Pastel on Canson mi teintes. CarbOthello pastel pencils.

Commission of "Higgins", an American Plott Hound

Hogan

The client for this commission was in Minnesota and just loved the outcome!

Fresian

This is A2 (almost) in size and the first artwork done in my new 'home-on-the-sea.. It feels so good to finally be back at the drawing board,  There's a work in progress for this.

Commission of a Friesian horse

Tails

Here is the completed commission of Tails.  There's a work in progress for this also.

The photo hasn't been cleaned up and of course it does no justice to the original but I'm happy with him. Graphite: A3 size.

There were very few pencil marks with this portrait as I wanted to keep him looking as soft and fluffy as possible so much use was made of stumps, erasers and what's turning into my favourite graphite tool, my Derwent Onyx dark, used side on rather than with the point.

Commission of a dog called Tails

Suspicious..

This took a long time to finish I think because I was getting over the flu and motivation was a bit lacking.  Very pleased with the outcome and so was the client!  He does seem suspicious to me :-)
