My artwork is going to the moon... for real!!

Okay, so, you read right. My artwork is going to the moon!

I am so proud and privileged to be a part of history as one of almost 200 artists whose work is making history by going into space.

AUSTRALIAN TV SERIES ROCKETS TO THE MOON WITH SPACEX AND NASA

Art TV show, Put Some Colour in Your Life,  received the exciting news that all 22 seasons of their TV art documentaries will be included in the Lunar Codex or “the Museum on the Moon”, rocketed via the Astrobotic Griffin / NASA VIPER ROVER / SpaceX Falcon Heavy mission headed to the Lunar South Pole due to land in 2023.

Out with the old (website) --- in with the new!

I had an exciting invitation recently to teach art at  the Port Community Arts Centre (PCAC) in Port Adelaide. Thank you to the lovely Claire Colbey for remembering me from an exhibition I did at the old Royal Adelaide Hospital and looking me up on Facebook. It came completely out of the blue and was the kick in the butt I needed to pick up my pencils again and get back into it. I will update that closer to the time.

I won't be doing my classes until early 2022 but that gap has given Dave and me the opportunity to update and modernise the Drawn Wild website. I hope you like it.

Oh, and if you see any errors or glitches with it, please let me know so that we can fix them... TIA!

New Studio!

My teensy studio (luckily I don't need a lot of room with pencils) is finally pretty much ready to go. I HAVE to paint the walls because they're a daggy apricot colour but that will have to wait for a bit.

This room was actually the far end of the dining room but the previous owner built a wall to create an office. Unfortunately, for reasons that elude me, they neglected to put in a window. so this morning it was like being inside a cave. However, by this afternoon...VOILA! A SOLAR SKYLIGHT! It's perfect and so bright, I keep thinking the light has been left on. The room still need a few things but I can totally live with it for now. The whole of one wall is built in robe so at least storgae isn't a problem.

Now all I need is some music, some nice oils in the burner, a cup of tea and a big bucket of motivation and away we go... at last!

Compassionate Moral Realism

My drawing "Wombat" is now on the cover of a book (ISBN-13: 9780198809685) to be used throughout universities across America. Printed by Oxford Press, and beautifully written by Colin Marshall (Assistant Professor of Philosophy, University of Washington), I am very proud to be a part of this.

It was a couple of years in the making but has now been printed.

Bea - A Japanese Mountain Hawk Eagle

This is the recent commission I had of Bea.

Bea is a beautiful 35-year-old Japanese Mountain Hawk Eagle. Due to a permanently injured right wing, she lives in her California zoo home under the watchful eye of my client, who has the privilege of being Bea's caretaker/keeper. 🙂

I had never seen this type of bird before but wow, she's gorgeous!
