Shop FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about the shop and products.

If you have a question that's not answered here, please use the Contact Us page and we'll respond.

What are the greeting cards?

The Greeting cards are blank inside and printed using the Giclee process.  The cards are 250gsm B5 (B6 175x125mm) folded and packaged (with an envelope) in a sealed plastic slip cover.

What are the Mouse Mats made of?

The mouse mats have a soft foam base and a tough polycarbonate top surface printed using a Die Sublimation process.

What is a "Limited Edition"?

All prints available from DrawnWild are released as "Limited Editions".  We believe that people purchasing a print from us deserve some degree of exclusivity and this is our way of doing just that.

Some of my work is able to be printed in more than one format (A4 and A3 sizes) and in those cases DrawnWild will release a limited edition of each format.

Each Limited Edition print is individually numbered and delivered with a personally signed "Certificate of Authenticity".  Of course, Limited Editions are just We will only produce a small number (200 currently) of each picture so these prints are only available until the last is sold.

DrawnWild guarantees that we will never re-issue prints of an original once the last print from each edition is sold.  However, we reserve the right to use my work in other formats (such as greeting cards etc) of course.

Why are some products only offered in certain sizes?

Originals are of various sizes of course.  As the originals are scanned at high resolution, we could (in theory) offer any size print.  However, we have decided not to offer prints larger than the originals as the the software used has to add detail into the image.   As reducing the size of the image does the opposite (effectively removing detail), we do feel able to offer prints that are smaller than the original.

So for A3 originals, we can offer A3 and A4 prints, but for A4 originals, we will only offer A4 prints.

What payment options do you have?

As Drawn Wild is not set up to handle financial transactions directly through the web site, we offer PayPal as the main method for payment.  If you purchase a product and choose PayPal as a payment option, then you will be re-directed to PayPal where you can make a payment into my PayPal account.

We also offer direct bank transfer as an option.  If you choose this as your payment option, details will be displayed to you which will allow you to transfer the payment to me.

If neither of these options are suitable for you, then please contact me to arrange an alternative.

Will you give a discount for multiple prints?

Of course we would!  We have not added any discounting for multiple products in the shop but we would be happy to quote for bulk supply.  Please contact us for the rates.

What paper do you use for the originals?

The originals are produced on a variety of paper depending on the subject matter and effects we are trying to achieve.

The paper is always high quality acid-free paper upwards of 250gsm.  Sometimes a textured paper is used for some effects and sometimes a smooth paper.

Why don't you use HTTPS in the shop?

HTTPS (which encrypts data over the Internet) should always be used where you are transmitting sensitive data over the Internet so this is a very fair question.

However Drawn Wild does not handle payments through the web site itself and as configuring our server to handle HTTPS involves further expense for us (for a properly signed certificate) we don't think this is necessary at this time.

How long will my artwork last?

Originals are drawn on quality cotton based paper, acid free and buffered.  They should last as long as any other similar original artwork.

Prints are done on archival quality paper with "pigment based" inks.  This type of printing (generically called "Giclee") should last a very long time.  We obviously cannot offer a "life time" guarantee as these printing methods are relatively new and the products used to produce them are out of our control.

We are using the best products we have been able to find to try to ensure that your artworks will last a very long time!  Epson use Wilhelm Imaging Research to perform independant testing of their products and this testing indicates a life span in the region of 100 to 200 years before significant fading would occur.  This is likely to be a worst case estimate as well as greyscale printing does not suffer from fading in the same way as some colours do.

With all artworks, particularly originals, don't hang where they are likely to be in direct sunlight.

What if I'm not happy with the artwork?

You should read our "Terms of service" statement.

As each print is produced on demand, we can't really offer to refund your money.  The prints are high quality and we never scale an image for a print larger than the original size so they are the best we can do.  With originals, we would hope that no-one has occasion to be unhappy with them!

We take care in packaging (as you would know if you bought one) and we do guarantee a refund if the item is damaged in transit.

In exceptional or hardship cases, we might consider taking an item back and refunding some of the cost price (less handling/postage fees) but each case would be treated individually and the final decision would always rest with DrawnWild of course.

How soon will I get my artwork?

We print our products on demand and guarantee that in the majority of cases, we will ship your print to you within 2 days of receiving your payment.

The time it takes to reach you would depend on the shipping method you have selected but within Australia it is likely that you would receive your print within 5-10 working days of us receiving your payment. International orders please allow up to 4 weeks (although I'd really hope it'd get there a lot sooner!)

If you need products even quicker than that, please contact us and we'll do our best to meet your requirements.

What ink do you use for the prints?

We use high quality "pigment-based" inks to produce long lasting prints.  Testing is performed by Wilhelm Research on behalf of Epson.  Black and white prints are estimated currently to last up to 200 years.

What size is A3, A3+ and A4?

The "A" series paper size is based on an international standard (ISO 216).

ISO Specification Paper Size (mm) Paper Size (inches)
A2 420 × 594 16.5 × 23.4
A3+ 329 x 483 13 x 19
A3 297 × 420 11.7 × 16.5
A4 210 × 297 8.3 × 11.7

Greeting cards are ISO B5 (250mm x 175mm) which produce a B5 (175mm x 125mm) card when folded.

What paper do you use for the prints?

All our printed products are printed on high quality cotton-based paper.  Depending on availability, this is either Epson Velvet Fine Art Paper 260gsm paper or Innova 315gsm paper.

These are both archival-quality and based on 100% cotton rag.  They are also both buffered and acid free with a coating to take the pigment based inks we use.
